Step 1) Log in to HostGator cPanel
Sign in to your HostGator account
Open cPanel
Step 2) Open the DNS editor
In cPanel, go to Domains
Click Zone Editor or Advanced DNS Zone Editor (name can vary by HostGator layout) HostGator
Step 3) Select your domain
Choose the domain you want to connect to Zarla from the list/dropdown.
Step 4) Find the CNAME for www
Look for an existing record like:
www.yourdomain.com (Type: CNAME)
Step 5) Edit it (or add it if it doesn’t exist)
Set it to:
Type: CNAME
Name / Host:
wwwTarget / Value / Points to:
custom.zarla.comTTL: Default (or Auto)
Save the record.
Step 6) Find the A record for the root
Look for:
@ or yourdomain.com (Type: A)
Step 7) Edit it (or add it if it doesn’t exist)
Set it to:
Type: A
Name / Host:
@Address / Value / Points to: 66.45.103.234
TTL: Default (or Auto)
Save the record.
Important Note:
For Root domain with name @ (example.com):
Only one A record should exist.
There should be no AAAA record (this is rare, but if present, it can break SSL certificates).
For www subdomain (www.example.com):
Should have only one CNAME record (pointing to the correct target www).
If any A, AAAA, or additional CNAME records exist, they must be deleted.
