Using a Domain Registered at Cloudflare

To connect your domain, your website must be published and active. If it’s unpublished, go to your site, click ‘Go Live,’ and subscribe.

Updated this week

This guide will walk you through the process of updating your domain's DNS records within Cloudflare.

Step 1: Log in to Cloudflare and Select Your Domain.

First, log in to your Cloudflare account. Once logged in, in the left corner, please click "Domains" then, you'll see a dashboard listing all your active domains under "Domain Management". Then, click on the domain you wish to manage.

Step 2: Navigate to the DNS Records Page

After selecting your domain, you'll be taken to its overview page. From the menu on the left side, click on the "DNS" icon, then select "DNS" tab in the top menu. This will bring you to the page where you can manage all your DNS entries.

Step 3: Add the A record (root domain).

You want the root domain (yourdomain.com) to point to Zarla.

Note: If you have an existing A Record with the hostname @, edit it and update the value to 66.45.103.234

If no existing A name record, please follow the steps below to add a new "A name" record:

  • Click + Add record

  • Select: Type: A

  • Enter:

    Name: @

    IPv4 address (Content/Value): 66.45.103.234

    TTL: Auto

  • Click Save

Important guideline: Only one A record should exist for @

Step 4: Add the CNAME record.

Note: If you have an existing CNAME Record with the hostname www, edit it and update the value to custom.zarla.com

If no existing CNAME record, please follow the steps below to add a new "CNAME" record:

  • Click + Add record

  • Select: Type: CNAME

  • Enter:

    Name: @

    Content/Value: custom.zarla.com

    TTL: Auto

  • Click Save

Important guideline: www should have only one CNAME.

Step 5: Propagation Time:

Please note that DNS changes can take up to 24-48 hours to propagate globally.

Important Note:

  • For Root domain with name @ (example.com):

    • Only one A record should exist.

    • There should be no AAAA record (this is rare, but if present, it can break SSL certificates).

  • For www subdomain (www.example.com):

    • Should have only one CNAME record (pointing to the correct target www).

    • If any A, AAAA, or additional CNAME records exist, they must be deleted.
